Lower East Side / Walk2

Presented in conjunction with the exhibition Shifting Impressions at Cuchifrittos Gallery, New York in April 18, 2015. Curated by Lynnette Miranda.

This walk examined the artistic identity of the LES by looking at sites integral to artists in the late 70s, 80, and 90s. The group visited places critical to the neighborhood’s artistic community, such as ABC No Rio and the Clemente Soto Veléz Cultural and Educational Center, and consider the impact of space on the work and life of artists at the time and its influence on the trajectory of contemporary art.
